Hey Cody and I were talking and were wondering if anyone would want to get a book club started? We can choose the book as a group and discuss it as we read. Benchmarks might make reading easier and faster :D

Ideas for books:

Dune

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

American Gods

The Road

etc..

Anyone interested?

The Shadow Wars series was decently fun to read. Also: Tales of the Otori series Halo - any of them really Isaac Asimov (he was a genius imo bcs he wrote his books in the 40s, about AI concept b4 computers existed) For those who enjoy watching anime's: just look up Baka-Tsuki and check out the light novels (not manga's so no, they're not picture books, they're basically full or half sized novels) Battle Royale Star Wars (Note- none listed here are directly from movies): Republic Commando series (5 books and amazingly written <3 Karen Traviss), any NJO series, the full FotJ series (probably my all time fave series [9 books]) and the following series of another 9 books. Regardless of being star wars or not, they're written very intensely intertwined and kept me begging for the next book to be released sooner. Classic Thrawn Trilogy as well.

I'm amazed that no one mentioned game of thrones here :P

Malazan Book of the Fallen and Wheel of time are my top two. Dune and Star Wars are also pretty good.

[21:26:16] <jesbro[MHA]> The UN is already about to come down on Egypt soon. That "ultimatum" will just get me to join them.

I am enlightened by Mr Director's vision.. all must become one with egypt!

If you guys end up getting this off the ground and include outsiders I am in. All of the books mentioned are of interest to me. My all-time favorite is Kurt Vonnegut for fiction.

I'd consider joining in but I like to read what I want, not to have it feel like an assignment ;)

Going through Jeff VanderMeer's Southern Reach trilogy atm, Annihilation was terrific so I have high hopes for the other two books. :)

Did this happen, cause I just voted for Stranger in a Strange Land. I reread that book every other year or so. Heinlein is awesome.

I was going to lend my book(Stranger...) to a friend, but he's got a persecution complex combined with a martyr complex, so I thought the book would not help.

I think the idea basically died but I would be open to reviving it. Never read stranger but I love Heinlien so I'll vote for that as well :P

It's a great book. Make sure you get the edition released after he died. His wife got her hands on an unedited version and it's way better.
