For those amongst us who may enjoy an animu or mango from time to time, or even a light novel. To prevent this from becoming a massive list-a-thon, please refrain from listing lists longer than 5-10 items.

If you want to ask for recommendations for a new anime to watch/your first, you should go watch Angel Beats

My top animu of all time
1: Angel Beats
2: Gurren Lagann
3: Danshi Kokosei no Nichijou
4: Clannad
5: Little busters
6: Toradora
7: Spice and Wolf

Attack on Titan

Black Lagoon

Cowboy Bebop

Darker Than Black (Season 1)

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood

Full Metal Panic

Genshiken

Nana

Neon Genesis Evangelion

Steins;Gate

Toradora!

I could double the list for a full "favorites" I think.  I'd recommend Cowboy Bebop to any newbie anime watcher. :)

Log Horizon is breddy gud. Definitely better than SAO in terms of "sucked into a computer game", in both plot line and character actions.

Attack on Titan
Black Lagoon
Cowboy Bebop
Darker Than Black (Season 1)
Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood
Full Metal Panic
Genshiken
Nana
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Steins;Gate
Toradora!

Cowboy Bebop is pretty good. I only say Angel Beats in the OP because a few reasons, namely to weed out plebs early on, as well as because Kanade Tachibana is best girl.

I liked Angel Beats until the final third or so. Felt like they crammed in too much in only a few episodes. Ending very unsatisfying as well. Disappointing for me.

Dubbed or Subbed? That can heavily affect the interpretation; going to get some flak for this, probably, but I prefer Angel Beats dubbed.

As for the cramming, it was originally intended to be a 24 episode series, and would probably have artfully fit it all in. Unfortunately, money got in the way and they only got funding for 12. They're apparently putting all the lost backstory in the Visual Novels, as well as releasing another OVA.

I watch most anime subbed with a few exceptions (FMA: Brotherhood, Cowboy Bebop), the voice acting by the English actors is often cringeworthy (especially the female moe ones).

Even without the cramming I wasn't loving how the show decided to end characters storylines (don't want to get spoilery so no details) but even if more time was taken I'm not sure I would have loved it any better as I didn't find the decisions being made to be plausible.

Cowboy Bebop is probably one of the best

I also like Samurai Champloo, Attack on Titan, and every now and then i'll decide to look back at the Dragonball series.

AoT may be popular but it's not bad. Just very western-style compared to most anime

Also, +1 on that Darker than Black recommendation. Extraordinarily good show

Recently watched Psycho Pass.  Think it might be good enough to crack my old Top Ten.

I read the SAO series, so they were much better that way.

Enjoy the first two on your list (Yuno from Miraii Nikki is my avy after all :P ), haven't see the others so no opinion there.

Going to wait for season 2 of FSN to end though so can marathon it through, no waiting every week for one episode for me!

Anyone see Spice and Wolf? Thought the first series was pretty good. Second one not so much.

Surprisingly educational about economics. 9/10 might trade goods again.

Not uncommonly, as was mentioned, the LN or Mango is better than the Animu. Baka-tsuki has the widest selection of LNs I've seen, and also has some mangos.
